#1 ADD MANAGING STEWARDS TO COMPONENT VICE PRESIDENTS’ DUTIES.
Purpose: This is part of the Local’s work to build a more effective body of stewards.

- Be the liaison between their component’s stewards and the executive, and they shall organize and chair the steward meetings.
#2 GIVE TRUSTEES A $50 HONORARIUM.
Purpose: Recognizing the vital function Trustees perform for the union.

#3 REDUCE THE MEMBERSHIP GRACE PERIOD FROM 12 MONTHS TO 2 SEMESTERS.
Purpose: to more accurately reflect the fact that union membership is defined by employment and to reduce the chance that non-workers can unfairly vote on union matters

Purpose: Require the booking of fully refundable hotels for conference, convention, and meeting travel.

#6 CHANGE BUDGET TO BEING PRESENTED AT SAGM, NOT AGM
Purpose: Housekeeping. Longstanding practice that was missed in previous bylaw clean ups.

#7 REMOVE 2 REFERENCES TO THE CUPE INITIATION FEE
Purpose: Housekeeping. CUPE National did away with their initiation fee in the fall of 2023

(d) Ensure that per capita tax is paid by direct remittance, or where per capita is not paid by direct remittance, prepare all CUPE National per capita tax forms and remit payment, including $1.00 of each initiation fee on all members admitted, no later than the last day of the following month.

(a) Bargaining team members will be paid for time spent in bargaining at the Step 7 rate of the Component 2 Second Language Teachers salary schedule. This applies only to bargaining days (at the table and in caucus).
(b) Component 3 bargaining team members who choose to receive the aid of a Teaching Assistant to compensate for the extra workload of participating in bargaining will receive pro-rated bargaining pay.
