CUPE 4163’s Statement on the Palestine Crisis

cupe4163 Uncategorized

The Canadian Union of Public Employees has long recognized the need for the Israeli government to withdraw from the occupied Palestinian territories and abide by UN resolutions and international law. The full siege of Gaza by Israel is only worsening conditions for residents who are already struggling and will not hasten a peaceful resolve.

We demand the Canadian government call for an immediate ceasefire in Israel-Palestine, an end of its sale of arms to Israel, and for an end to Israel’s blockade of Gaza and the restoration of aid and the basic necessities of life.

Finally, we want to make it absolutely clear that CUPE 4163 unequivocally denounces any and all violence against citizens of Palestine or Israel and condemns all forms of Islamophobia and anti-Semitism.
